How To Rank A Brand New Website On Google?

Today we will answer a question that many new business owners have, how can you rank a new website on the front page of Google?

This isn’t easy if you have a brand new website. Still, there are a couple of things we can do that I guarantee you, if you do them correctly and if you follow these tips, you will get your website ranking on the front page of Google much faster than many other new websites.

I know it can be challenging, I have done it myself. Suppose you have to build a new website and launched it out there to Google, Bing, Yahoo. It sometimes took months, even up to a year, before you start seeing the website on the first or second page of the Google search results.

Picking up a domain name

This is extremely important. If you pick up a domain name that has the exact same keywords that your business is targeting, then the chances are that you will be ranking on the front page a lot quicker.

For example, if you are a plumbing company in San Diego, and your domain name is www.PlumbingCompanySanDiego.com, your domain name matches exactly the keywords that a potential customer is searching for.

Exact match domain names will make your website more relevant for those keywords and help you rank on the front page much quicker.

Finding an exact match domain name can be hard nowadays. Sure, I agree; most of the good ones are already gone.

Let’s discuss a strategy to find a domain name that can help us get the kind of results we want.

There are two tools that I recommend that you use, SemRush and Ahrefs. I use Ahrefs most of the time. I go to Ahrefs‘ Keyword Explorer and type keywords related to your industry. For example, I would type “plumbing company”.

Ahrefs‘ Keyword Explorer will give me a list of keywords that are related to your niche. Each one of the keyword suggestions on the list will show how much potential traffic they can bring. The idea is that we try to register a domain name using one of those keywords on the list that have a significant search volume.

So maybe you can’t register “www.PlumbingCompanySanDiego.com,” but you will find that “Plumbing Company near me” or “Best Plumbing Company” are keywords that also have large search volumes, and you can use them as an idea to register your new domain name.

When you do this type of keyword research, you will find a good domain name that’s using a keyword phrase very close to what the potential customer is searching for on Google.

Once you find the ideal keyword, then the following tool to use is Godaddy Domains. Type in your keyphrases on Godaddy Domains and if the .com is available, purchase it right away.

The average price for a domain name is $12 or $15 per year unless it’s a premium domain.

A premium domain is a domain name that someone purchased and is reselling for a premium price.

If a domain has a lot of potential, you may find it listed for $1000, $2000, $5000, $20,000, or more. It can get costly.

Website Structure: Sitemap

Let’s plan how we will build this website and what’s going to be in it.

Almost every website has a couple of things: a homepage, about page, contact page, FAQ, and maybe one service page.

Now, if we want to plan this website correctly, keeping in mind that we want this new website to rank on the front page of Google as soon as possible, we need to plan for a full-blown website that will get the kind of results that we want.

So let’s start by creating a sitemap, and on that sitemap, we will list all the essential keywords that we want to rank for.

I will go back to using Ahrefs again and do some keyword research about your niche to find out the most important keywords that you want to be ranking for.

Please make a list of all the keywords and list them on your sitemap because you will need to create one page for each one of those keywords.

Tools available to build your website

Now we are ready to go ahead and start building the website.

Let’s see which tools are available for us to do this job.

There are many website builders that you can use: Wix, WordPress, Shopify, Squarespace, Magento, and many other content management platforms that you can use to quickly and easily build your website.

You must pick one website builder that you feel comfortable with. The website is the foundation for all of your marketing funnels.

My favorite website builder is WordPress.

WordPress is open-source, allowing you to quickly look at the code, customize it, and make it fit your needs.

There are a lot of website templates or themes for WordPress through a marketplace called ThemeForest.

I use them to purchase different themes and try different website designs when I’m building the website for my clients, this way; I can try different templates and use the one that’s better for my clients.

WordPress also has a massive database of free and paid plugins that you can use to expand the functionality of your website without having to write any code.

Say, for example, that you want to sell a product on your website, look for WooCommerce on your plugins and install it, and now you will have a fully functional eCommerce website with checkout built-in.

Another plugin that I use all the time is called Yoast SEO. This plugin will help you SEO optimize every single page on your website for the keywords that you want to track.

Writing Content

Content is king, and it’s probably one of the most important things for SEO, one of the most important things you can do that will help you rank faster on the front page of Google.

I don’t write the content myself. When I’m producing content for a new website for one of my clients, I always hire a professional copywriter. I try to find someone who is US-based, with an English Major, and find a copywriter who has experience or is an expert on the niche that I’m covering even better.

If you followed my advice and did the proper keyword research, and created a detailed sitemap of your website, you now have a list of keywords you will give to your copywriter.

Ask the copywriter to create a page of content of at least 1000+ characters for each of the keywords you select.

If you are building the website using WordPress, adding all these pages will be super easy. WordPress is CMS (Content Management Platform), which means you will create new pages on the go without any experience needed.

Social Media Signals

We are not done yet. Finally, we need to send different signals to the search engines to show them that we are worthy of being ranked on the front page.

How do we do this?

First of all, let’s register our website with Google’s tools: Google Analytics, Google Search Console, Google My Business, etc. Even creating a Google Ads campaign is something that will give you a small boost.

Google Search Console will tell Google that their bots can crawl the website. Every time you publish an update, a new page, or a new blog post, Google will be notified, and its bots will be able to scan your website and register that something new and cool is going on.

Google My Business (GMB) is also super important. If we create a very strong GMB profile, this will help us with our organic search results and our position on the maps.

Everything that we post or update on the website we can re-publish on our GMB page as an update. We want to publish photos of the business, videos, store hours, phone numbers, and anything else that’s relevant to your business.

We also want social media signals. Everything we publish on our website and GMB will also publish on our social media channels: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, etc.

The goal is to create engagement with your posts on Social Media. Google is going to see that many people are interacting with your posts, and this will be another signal that tells the search engine that your content and your website are worthy of being ranked on the front page.
