How to Turn Off Google Ads Call Reporting and Use Your Business Real Phone Number?

A business owner recently asked me how to stop Google Ads from swapping their actual business phone number with Google call reporting number.

The issue is that when you create a Google Ads Search Campaign, Google will show a random phone number that redirects the calls to the business phone number.

Google does this to report how many calls you received, the duration of the calls, and even provide you with call recordings if needed.

This could represent a problem for many businesses. For example, imagine your product or services are part of a long sales process in which it takes a long time for the deal to close. Or imagine that a potential client called you, but they are not ready and are planning to contact you again in 2 or 3 months from now. 

Google swaps the call tracking number they are using for your business, and in two or three months, they have assigned you a new tracking number, making the previous one inoperable. So if a potential client saved the number that showed on your ad, and tries to call you again in the future, they will not be able to reach you using that phone number.

The solution is simple, turn off Google Ads Call Reporting on your account settings and show your actual business phone number on your google ads campaign.

Follow these steps:

  1. Login to your google ads campaign.
  2. Click on Settings and Account Settings.
  3. Click on Call Reporting.
  4. Click on Turn Off and hit Save.
